I fucking hate this country!

Just watch and see how stupid the country I live in, Australia, can get.
I would also like to point out that you don’t have to kill anyone in Fallout 3. You can go through the entire game without having to kill a single person, you are given a choice. Whenever I see things like this, they never give the entire truth about the game, only the “omg, you kill things” side of it. Please, PLEASE, if you’re a journalist and you’re going to do something like this, get your facts straight about what you’re talking about. I have seen supposed facts being spouted frequently on these types of discussions about videogames in various media formats and they only highlight the fact that there is violence in videogames and ignore pretty much every other aspect about them.
Also, and here’s the biggest issue. None of the politicians on that panel knew what the hell they were talking about. We DO have a rating system for games, we just don’t have an R18+ rating for it!
In extreme circumstances I’d move out of Australia because of their total asshattery but then where would I go? The US? Ha, (no offense to anyone) I’d rather be dead then live in the US… so I guess I’m stuck here in a country so afraid of everything that it bans a game like Fallout 3 because they’re afraid everyone will suddenly get hopped up on drugs and start killing people.
I think this entire thing stems from people being afraid of what they don’t understand, which is very encouraging in a multicultural country where the idea is to understand people of other cultures. Well, this is my culture, and I’d rather people took the time to understand at least a small part of my culture and that we’re not out to destroy your culture.

Also, just a note: I know I sounded overly harsh about saying I'd rather be dead than to live in the US. To be honest, I can't imagine living in any other country but Australia... but I still hate how backward this country can get on some issues.
EDIT: Oh look, according to wiki, Fallout 3 is coming out on the PS3... import copy for me then, just like GTA4.

Thanks Scar... though is Fallout 3 coming out on the PS3? I ask because I'm about to get a PS3 and most games on the Xbox360 aren't region unlocked while all are on the PS3.

I mean, YEAH Fallout tactics was on ps2 and xbox.
but still 'tactics' title...
got to go for the gold.
besides PC ports have the most amount of support anyway...

I'll see what i can do...
Only joking but violence in something like that might be closer to violence in real life XD That might just make it a better release for violent actions though XP

I remember watching something or reading something, and these guys were interviewing some game producer. And they got to the topic of gaming violence. And, I'm just paraphrasing, he said that games aren't the only things that are have violence. Things like movies have violence as well. But since the generation that criticize games grew up with movies, they won't really say that its the fault of movies. So basically, they say its the fault of videogames because its kind of a foreign concept to them.

Hopefully, at least. There will always be uninformed people of our generation too though.

Look like I won't have to import after all: Bethesda: Fallout 3 to be 'identical' for Aussie, UK, US versions - Joystiq

Oh, and the asshattery continues...
My first reaction was...
Lynk says:
WHAT?!
Lynk says:
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BULLSHIT?!
in a conversation with Jeff.
God damn, are the folks over at the OFLC getting more stupid by the second or are they just doing it out of spite for gamers in general?

Joystiq has provided a bit more detail as to what caught the OFLC's attention... and I have to agree with them, we've seen this kind of violence in horror movies for a long time and they were never banned or edited down here.

...and ship it. no matter the cost.
period.
