Game Spotlight: Resident Evil 5 demo
Posted by Lynk Former on 31 January 2009 at 12:39 PM (GMT+10)
For the second Game Spotlight, I thought I’d try something different. Instead of putting the spotlight on a game that’s already been around for awhile, why not preview a game that hasn’t even been released yet? The game I’ve chosen is the Resident Evil 5 demo which was just released on Xbox Live a few days ago.

As has been much publicised, Resident Evil 5 is heavily focused on co-operative gameplay, so I thought, “Why not have a co-op article to go with it.” When the full version of RE5 is finally released on March 13, Jeff (aka Moelman) and I are going to be playing it together in online co-op mode all the way through to the very end.
But for now, Jeff and I are going to share our thoughts about our experience with the Resident Evil 5 demo…

I… This country confuses me! (IFHTC! Part 3)
Posted by Lynk Former on 14 January 2009 at 8:47 PM (GMT+10)
I’ve had two blog entries before this where I’ve ranted about how stupid my country, Australia, can be when it comes to rating video game content. It all stems from the fact that while we have an R18+ rating for movies, the government hasn’t allowed the use of that rating for video games… and to make it worse, there are certain individuals in the government who are extremely adamant that there should NEVER be an R18+ rating for video games.

Quite a few games were effected by the lack of an R18+ rating down here in 2008, and to top it off, the reasoning for some of these games being banned from being sold in Australia are downright confusing… especially when some of these games that were originally refused classification have now been rated MA15+ with little to no change at all.

The Buzz-saw of DOOM!
Posted by Lynk Former on 11 January 2009 at 2:05 AM (GMT+10)
This blog entry will be a little strange, but I have to get it off my chest. There’s something that scares me about the Nintendo DS, so much so that it keeps me up at night… What am I talking about? Well, the very annoying alarm noise the Nintendo DS has, of course!

When I set the alarm on my DS, I’m so afraid of hearing it in the morning that I literally wake up every few hours and CHECK how much time is left for me to wake up… and then when it comes close for the alarm to go off, I wake up and then I wait and stare at my DS until 10 minutes before it goes off I turn it off and get up. Does this make me a strange person? Well yes, but I’ve done stranger things before and anyone who owns a DS will understand why I’m like this…
“BRZZZZT-BRZZZZT-BRZZZZT! BRZZZZT-BRZZZZT-BRZZZZT! BRZZZZT-BRZZZZT-BRZZZZT! BRZZZZT-BRZZZZT-BRZZZZT!“… and then it gets louder and LOUDER and it goes on and on. I don’t know what kind of sick experiments people have run to determine the most annoying sound to use to wake people up in the morning, but the Nintendo DS has by far the most annoying alarm I’ve ever heard. I can stand the BEEP BEEP BEEP watches and other electronic alarms make and don’t really mind the oldskool ringing alarm clocks… though, to be honest, I haven’t heard one of those outside of a movie.
I don’t know why it stresses me out so much… but it does. I just thought I’d share that with everyone for some reason…
