“Don’t you die on me!!” Dealing with hardware failures
In this entry, I’d like to ask you all about your experience with console hardware and also computer hardware in general when it comes to gaming. How reliable has it all been for you and if you’ve had any problems, what happened?

Personally, I’ve had very few hardware issues over the years… in fact, I think I’ve only had two issues with consoles and one potentially dangerous issue with one of my computers many years ago. I guess that makes me very lucky considering the horror stories you tend to hear from people on the net about how they lost all of their saved game data or how they’d keep having their consoles replaced only to have the replacements die on them over and over… poor bastards.
Remember 16
Okay, now that I’m on my summer break, it’s time to spend more time actually posting stuff in here that’s of some worth… Also, I couldn’t help myself, I just had to use a Macross reference for the title of this entry.

Do you remember what video games were like back when you were 16? It wasn’t that long ago for me and I’m sure it wasn’t that long ago for many of you, but I think that that age is an interesting time to look back on. We were all still back in school and we probably didn’t have as much money to spend on video games as we do nowadays… that said, we had a lot more free time to spend playing them.
I turned 16 back in late 2000 and it was quite an interesting time for gaming…
So much vidya, not enough time…
As you have no doubt noticed by now by the sudden drop in activity on the blog… I’ve been very busy and have ended up neglecting this place. However, that’s not the main issue here… it’s the fact that I haven’t been able to find time to play video games lately!

Of course, not having the time to do a lot of the stuff you want to do occurs to everyone at some point in their life and there are times when people have sacrificed doing something they love to make way for other “more important” things… well that’s all well and good for other people, but video games are very important to me and the only way I’m going to give it up is when I’m dead… and even then I’ll claw back from the grave and haunt someone who has video games so they can run away in fear and I can then usurp their vidya…
Remembering classic video game soundtracks
I’ve been having a bit of a nostalgia high at the moment thanks to that Stunts entry I posted a few days ago… and there’s nothing wrong with that because it let’s us remember an era that will never come again.

Frank Klepacki may not be as well known to most as say, Koji Kondo or Harry Gregson-Williams, however fans of the Command & Conquer series should know him well. But to me, he is most remembered as the composer of one of my favourite DOS games from back in the day… Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty.
What we want from Pokémon Black and White
A lot of us are gripped with a bit of Pokémon fever with the release of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, and Nintendo has just accelerated things with the announcement of Pokémon Black and White for the Nintendo DS…

Initial reactions to this news don’t seem to be as positive as you’d think. Sure, it’s great to have a new generation of Pokémon games, however from seeing comments from around the net, it’s clear that a lot of people would prefer to have the series debut on the Nintendo 3DS so it can take advantage of whatever new features the new system will provide.
So what do people want from the 5th generation?
