Yes, the layout does indeed win the internets.

It's great that everyone is loving the design, but a small part of me is kind of disappointed. Some of the fun of web design is fixing stuff that you don't see yourself and making things better... but apparently I don't have to do that with this design. A job well done, I guess...

Either way, now that the site has an apparently kickass design, now all I gotta do is write articles and other stuff to compel people to join and grow the community... and that's all easier said than done.

I ventured here because of an article, so you're on the right track

I'm afraid I have just to nitpick one small part of the design here. The blue background on both sides of the forum seem to remind me too much of BGCC. It does however make the centre of the page stand out more which may be it's purpose but if you want to start out new and fresh then maybe you should change the blue part.

I'm not sure if this would work but maybe try and see what it looks like if you change the sides to the same grey colour as the ones on the forum, it may make the forum look a bit more bland though so if it does you can change it back.

I know, I grabbed it straight from the BGCC design and it's purpose is exactly what you said, to make the actual page content stand out more... I'm not going to change it though because BGCC doesn't exist anymore... also, do you think the rest of the site would care a blue scan line background was from an old web site design I made back in the day? Most people in here don't even know what BGCC is.

If I changed it to gray then it would be too bland. Plus the page content itself is gray and it would lose its effect. Plus the forum and site has exactly the same design and colour scheme, no difference at all.

I've already thought all of this through

I think the blue parts are fine and work quite well

I added a poll thingy to the homepage just now

Big thanks go to stoffe from over at LucasForums who gave me the script to make it all work. She's a champion.
