Star Wars: The Old Republic

The article is just a glimpse of the game, I'm just curious about all of your thoughts...

Personally, the first thing I thought was... what is up with those lightsaber hilts.

To be perfectly honest, I've never been too big on MMOs myself... but there are a few thoughts that come to mind.

- Star Wars fans better hope that this turns out better than Galaxy. I know that Bioware is involved so it stands a better chance... but you never know.

- Personally, I'd have preferred Bioware to make a KotOR 3 before TOR MMO... I think many would agree with me on that.

- Provided that this game turns out to be really good... LucasArts still needs to release a lot more quality games to make people forget about all the sucky games they've released lately.

Do you have a turlet? 'cause this really makes me sick.

A story-driven MMO? That's like having space full of air. So, Bioware's making what, 6 games for this one MMO and they gaff at our desires for a KOTOR 3? Good old Lucasarts, they have no idea what their fans want.
So, have you heard?

I am super excited for this game. I have been waiting for this announcement since the LucasArts/Bioware project was announced about a year ago. Sounds like some of the big gaming sites will be releasing more info on it each day this week so more is to come!

I don't know if I want to get my hopes up for this, but if it turns out good I'll probably buy it.

After completely reading the article the game sounds promising, but as with most previews there will obviously be some fluff in there. If they do execute on what they are promising though then I'd be very excited . I still can't get over how the lightsabers look like giant flashlights though...

To be perfectly honest, this is a big snore for me. I'd rather have...
STAR WARS POD RACER for Wii.

You all know that'd be so awesome.

Hey, it worked in Episode 1 Racer, why can't it work again?

Man I used to love that game. Beat every level except one, which was near fucking impossible.

Pod Racer for Wii would make me cry rivers of joy, seeing as how Episode I Racer was the straw that broke the camel's back and forced me to buck up for my own Nintendo64 and I played the hell out of that game (ruined 2 controllers, and not from excess force!)

I am not excited at all for TOR MMO. I don't have any desire to play an MMO of any kind, not even Star Wars...else I would have at least tried Galaxy. I, too, would have preferred that KOTOR 3 took precedence over an MMO version set in the same time period, but I guess the overwhelming MMO trend and the cash-in possibilities that abound are too much of a lure for developers and licensors.

It strikes me as strange that whereas online play used to be the domain of PC dorks, you're now considered lame if you *don't* want to play your games online.

Theoretically, if there were to be a console version, it'd only be for Xbox360 since it's the easiest console to port PC games to.

With EA owning Bioware, and Lucasarts having some sort of control in the matter, if it were going to be multiplatform I'd imagine it would be across the board on every system possible. Just take a look at what Lucasarts did with The Force Unleashed, originally slated to showcase their "next generation" technologies, it was made available on everything but the Atari 2600. Now as far as quality goes, that's a completely different story, and yes most likely the 360 will be the closest in relative quality to the PC.

Bleh, LA hasn't been doing anything right over the past...well...a long time.

I don't think a MMO can go to console simply for the variety of spells/abilities/talents there are to use. You'd practically have to use a keyboard to play it there too. Not to mention cost. If ti's on Xbox Live, it better be free.
So, have you heard?

There have already been MMO's on consoles FFXI for example, so there is always a way to work around the controls. Besides, keyboard and mouse use isn't out of the question for consoles. I hate monthly fees, they're retarded, I bought the game I shouldn't have to keep on paying for it, so regardless of what platform it is on, if it has a monthly fee, I'm not playing.
