For those of you like me that didn't get the Limited Edition Art Book for pre-ordering the game, here's a link to go download some scans of the book. The book itself is ok, nothing extraordinary, but it would have been nice to get one, but EBGames decided to cancel my pre-order... bastages...

Just reached the finale today. I might have to wait until tomorrow to complete the battle. I got a D for the mission to move the giant tank in the correct direction. I shouldn't have bother slowing the tank down since I had plenty of time. I didn't feel like doing the mission again and just continue along. I faced off against Jaeger and received a B for that mission. I took all the bases. I would have beaten him sooner if it wasn't for that armor his tank had on.

I've seen lots of complaints on the net about people who were assured they'd get their art book for VC but didn't.

Psh, what do they know? Their game sucks.

Plus you don't have to watch the cutscenes at all and the leveling system and character customisation is a lot more simple in VC than it is anywhere else.

I do like how if they find it bad, it must be bad.

Valkyria Chronicles was time friendly with classes getting levels instead of individual characters.

It was basic game when you get down to it, but I'm fine with that myself. People might have had higher expectations of Strategy RPG, but this game meet all the requirements of a good Strategy RPG. Still, if it's not different, it's rehashed and not worth your time. I like how people writing these reviews having played a large number of games in the genre and expect a different approach each and every time. People heading into their middle to late 20's.

Anyway, just completed the game yesterday. Might take a run of achieving an A rank for all missions. The final mission ended up not being difficult as I thought. You didn't even need that many characters on the field. What I did like about the end of the game was the mission goals changed from capute the base to different goals, like defeat the boss. If I do have a complaint, it would be the game should had more "defend the base" style missions or sneak missions. Only one of each appeared.

Meh, their reviews kind of remind me of those "the Escapist/Yahtzee" reviews, they go more so for entertainment and chuckles and they think it's "cool" to hate games. But hey it's their opinion and they have a right to it.

I hate piggy-baking my own posts, but yea, here's an interview with a couple of VC devs from this years TGS, the last minute or so talks about how they want to make a sequel, but it is dependent on how well the game does in western markets...

There was a German restaurant called Edelweiss back home in Hawaii, I think they went out of business though, their split-pea soup was awesome though

Small update of sorts, the first episode of the VC Anime aired in Japan on April 4th, 2009, I didn't get a chance to watch it yet though. Pretty easy to find on Google, just search, Valkyria Chronicles Fansub.

While talking to Jeff on msn...

*oh wow, they're using the actual music from valkyria chronicles the game in the anime

*heh, first 8 minutes is pretty good
*i like

*the big eyes and slightly different animation style is a little annoying though

*and making some of the minor characters younger than they were in the game is stupid...

*ir's funny, they went through all this trouble to make it a cel shaded animation, but they could've just used the canvas engine the game uses XD

*she's saying "nii-san" not "welkin" so why are you fansubbers putting "welkin" in the subtitle when she's saying that?!
*morons

*aw man... they just revealed the edelweiss and the episode ended

I finally got a chance to watch it this afternoon, I liked it so far although I'll have to see more before I can say whether or not how good it really is. I recognized some of the game music as well, then I immediately thought to myself, "where is my god damned DLC?"

The art direction is a little weird, wtf is up with the 15-year-old Bruhl patrolmen, but they did try to keep a little bit of the watercolor effect from the game. Though like you mentioned Lynk, the game already had anime scenes, dunno why they didn't just go with that art style. The only real concern I have is that the anime will be easily predictable since I have played the game. I can't remember exactly but the anime is scheduled for either 24 or 26 episodes, and the game was broken into 18 main chapters, plus some other stuff on the side. So if the anime follows the game closely it's pretty easy to see how it is going to break down. However, the show did take some liberties with the story from the game, which can be good and bad, so I guess we'll see how it goes.

Also, I really liked the ED, little chibi VC characters, thought it was hilarious, Selvaria cooking lulz and by the looks of things, it appears that Marina <3 <3 and Jann will be in the show, awesome! I did notice the distinct lack of the Arcadia characters, Vyse!!
