| Apple i-Phone
So my dad called me a few days ago and asked me if I wanted an i-Phone for my birthday present, was kinda unsure at first but decided to say yes anyway. The craze over this gadget didn't really get to me when it was first announced and up to the time it was released down here in Aus. Anyway, it seems that I'm gonna get the black 16GB version from him so I wanna know what features it has (since I can't be bothered searching it up lol) and an opinion from someone who owns one. What are the good and bad things about this supposedly great gadget? I'm the type who likes to use mobiles phones to listen to music whenever I go out to work or hang out with my friends so I think I'll be able to make use of it with storing my 6GB of music or so XD. Also, anyone know what video formats it can play? I'm thinking about just putting some music videos and maybe a few anime series on it to watch whenever I feel bored riding on the train or tram. |

Now that I think about it, your birthday is coming up, isn't it? In about a week or so. Ask AC (you know who I'm talking about), I think he just got/is getting an iPhone. Seems to know a lot too. Last edited by The Wolf; 12 Nov 2008 at 5:25 PM.. |

I have the iPod Touch, it has all the features of the iPhone minus the phone part. It's pretty cool, I have the 8gb version and it can fit all my music but I have some music DVDs of live shows and it cannot fit all those too. :/ But it's pretty cool, the internet and just typing with the keyboard in general is surprisingly easy to use. For video formats, I believe it plays .mp4, but it also has a built-in youtube player.

Looks like I'm gonna have to switch my pre-paid sim to a Virgin one since the plan my dad is thinking about signing up with is with Virgin Mobile. I'm currently using Optus and have been for awhile now. I've looked at the Optus plan it seems like a rip off compared to Virgin Mobile, plus with the Virgin plan you can call overseas while the Optus one doesn't allow that. EDIT: Just found out that Virgin Mobile is owned by the Optus Network so maybe my pre-paid Optus sim might work on the iPhone. Don't know if I need to get it unlocked though as I've been doing some searching and a few sites have had people who got it from Virgin Mobile unlocked (when they try using a Telstra/Vodaphone sim or calling their friends who use that network) while there have also been a few who have said they had theirs locked when they bought it. I have the iPod touch, 16GB. I'm extremely satisfied with the product since I've had it for about a year now and never had any software/hardware issues with it. The touch screen OS is so fucking awesome, it was the main reason I bought it. :P |

I finally received the iPhone yesterday and transferred about 9GB of music onto it already along with a number of music videos. Slowly getting used to the touchscreen interface method and it's a nice phone/mp3 player so far. There's only a few things I'm annoyed about it though. One being you can't set your custom ringtone to actually ring when someone calls you (I was able to sync them onto the phone but that's about it) and the other is that its battery life is rather awful. It was at full capacity this afternoon and I went out for about 2-3 hours, by the time I got back it was almost out of battery life. Anyone know how to make it last longer? I already had the data roaming and wi-fi turned off when I went out but it didn't seem to make it last very much. |
