Myst DS

This game from what I've read on different sites is a huge disappointment. Myst was originally one of the first killer apps for CD-ROM and is a point and click adventure game with static environments. Basically one of the best adventure games of all time. So when I heard it was coming out for DS I put this at the top of my want list but after reading a couple reviews I'm not so sure that its worth it anymore. Check out these 2 reviews to see what I mean:

IGN: Myst Review

Myst for DS Review - DS Myst Review

The guy at IGN seemed like he didn't like Myst in the first place which makes him a crappy choice when picking someone to review a game so I sought out gamespot hoping I would see a better opinion when they gave it an even lower score.

Anyways like both of these guys said maybe it is time for Myst remakes to die as it has been released many times over the years and I'd rather not see its name tarnished. It'd be great for one of the more recent Myst games to be ported (there are 5 games in the series).

I have heard of Myst DS when it was first announced for development. I was excited about the possible chance to play the game, but nearly every review I have encounter has stated that Myst DS is a complete disappointment. If I remember correctly, Myst DS was slated for U.S. release despite the title being a bust in Japan.

The reviews are pretty bad you say? *goes to check*

Wow, that is pretty bad. I mean, I was expecting it to be little less than average but these sites pretty much tell you that the development was a wasted effort.

Yeah, I think it came out in May, and I was planning on getting it, but after reading reviews I will probably pass.

I was expecting different opinions from reviewer to reviewer, but there seems to be an agreement among reviewers that this title is bad.

Yeah, same here. It's not often that I would not pick up a game based on reviews, but the majority of reviews are stating this game is not even worth the time. I don't remember seeing many reviewers all at once agreeing that one particular game is bad.

Yeah same, a lot of times I don't care if reviews are bad if its a game I know I want, like one example is Pokemon Battle Revolution, it only got 5/10s and stuff but I still got it, and its like its Myst, how bad can they fuck it up, but I guess they did.

Myst is one of those games I would definitively NOT play in a hand held thing, it's just a puzzle game but Myst's puzzles can be hard, you will need lots of time for think of, paper for write things down, etc

also the whole point of Myst is the pretty graphics and the environment, why would you play it in a tiny screen?

Well that was one complaint against the game, since its dual screen there should have definitely been a notepad feature but from what I read it was absent. Also Myst might have looked nice back in the 90s but the graphics are pretty dated now. I think in general most older point and click adventure games are perfect for the DS (eg scummvm ds).

I thought they were porting an updated version of Myst, like realMyst, and not the original one.
