Has anybody really looked into this game at all, I was over at IGN browsing a bit and they already reviewed it, didn't look at it too close but it appears that they liked it. I've never played a PoP game, so I don't know what to expect, dunno if I'll get it yet.

My brother was talking to me about this, and was saying that he kind of wants to get it but doesn't like the graphics. It's in a certain style and I don't know if I care for it. The characters have an outline but I don't really know what the style is called.

However it got reviewed pretty well, I have not played a PoP game either and neither has my bro, I dunno if he'll get it.

I've been looking at this game more and I am planning on getting it eventually, probably early next year. At first I was a bit unsure but now I absolutely love the visual style of the game, that almost seems enough to make this game worth playing, but obviously the other elements of the game were done very well too as it has been reviewed quite well across the board. Really looking forward to playing it.

Anybody else played it so far?

Yep, I think I mentioned it in the What are you Playing thread, but I finished PoP a day before I caught my flight home. It's a pretty good game, however my main gripe is that it is a bit on the short side for an Action/Platformer I'd guess it's around 8-10 hours, one of the Achievements/Trophies is for beating it in under 12 hours. I never rent games, but if you're someone who does, I'd say this is a renter that you could beat casually in a few days. If you want to know anything specific feel free to ask.

bump lol

Well having just finished this, I'd be interested to hear what others who might have played it thought. And if mav is the only other who has played it, definitely recommend it to anyone as it's for PC, 360 and PS3. My thoughts:

The good:

Overall excellent gameplay. One friend of mine didn't like the game because he didn't feel he had enough control of his character, but I thought they did an excellent job with how the Prince controls. And though it's not as big a deal as they make it out to be, it's nice to choose your destination rather than having a linear pathway.

Elika. Really what made the game great for me, the banter between her and the Prince was just great and she gave the Prince a lot more character depth. Without Elika (and the game not based around her) it would not have been anywhere close to how great it was.

Graphics are sooooo pretty. By far one of the most visually stunning games of 2008, and in quite a while really.

The bad:

Too short. While surprisingly I did not get the achievement for beating the game in under 12 hours, a game always feels too short when you beat it two days after purchasing it. Time flies when you are falling to your death and having a beautiful bare footed lady save you over and over.

The in-between:

Ending: Kind of unsure on this. At first when Elika died I was basically outraged because I did not see it coming at all. Was so sad walking down the temple hall with her in your arms. And then when it showed the 4 trees, I didn't really know what to do, so I ran over to one and pressed all the buttons, and when he cut it down I understood he was going to do the same thing her father did. Didn't really like that at first either, because you're basically undermining everything you did during the game, but I suppose the relationship between the Prince and Elika is what will last. The game is set up almost too good for a sequel as the ending is a huge cliffhanger, really looking forward to the next game.So yeah, definitely would like to hear what others thought especially about the spoilers and for anyone who didn't get it, hope this helps show you what a great game it is.

Yeah I watched that a while back, Zero Punctuation is definitely funny but in general too harsh, not sure if I've watched a review where he had more positive than negative. ;o

About the ending...

The ending did kind of piss me off, because basically you just negated what you spent the last 10 or so hours fixing so at the end I basically felt like WTF did I just play this game for? You've played Assassin's Creed right, well these two Ubisoft endings pissed me off because they are basically saying, we're making a sequel and you have to go and buy that to see what happens. Which in the right circumstances is fine, but if you're going to do that you need to have the first story have some sort of conclusion and then present a cliffhanger. I loathe it when a game or movie or book ends its story with a cliffhanger, it prevents the player/watcher/reader from having the satisfaction of reaching some sort of conclusion to the story. Anyway that's my incoherent rant on that.

As far as the actual content of the ending goes, while I freaking love Elika's character, I sort of saw her death coming and I wish that it was kept that way. Then the sequel could involve the Prince finding some alternative method of rejuvenating Elika instead of just recreating the chaos that took so long to fix. As it is now I don't really see how the sequel will be able to separate itself from the first since you will essentially be fighting the same evil. I'm far from capable of being a writer though so I guess I'll just have to trust the people that get paid to do so, to make a story that makes sense.

Edit: Oh and as far as the Zero P. review goes, that was comical and I'd say that that review was much more on the positive end as far as that guy goes.

Prince of Persia DLC Revealed

Sounds like it will be a significant addition to the ending which was left pretty wide open so this is definitely something I'm looking forward to. Comes out February 26.

Ugh, this kinda pisses me off, because Ubisoft will no doubt expect me to pay for this, which is essentially the conclusion to the ending that they left hanging in the retail game.

Yeah it really does suck because this kind of stuff should be included in the game in the first place. That is the problem with having the option for DLC that we didn't have in previous generations.

It's even worse when the content is already on the disc and all the DLC is is an activation code for said content... and you have to pay for it.

That is just asinine, see part of me hates DLC because it just consists of the developers milking extra cash out of their product. Then the other part of me likes DLC when it gives me more content for an awesome game, yes SEGA I'm looking at you, gimme my Valkyria Chronicles DLC dammit!

It sounds like the developers of Prince of Persia are using DLC to get you to pay twice for a full game >_<

yeah that's getting annoying as hell...dlc should be free, or reasonable. 50ms points as opposed to 600-800...

Yeah I think the standard 800 points/$10 is ridiculous. We are already paying $60 for a new game which is ridiculous. I certainly hope game prices do not go up in the next generation like they have for the past couple...
