Dragon Quest X for Wii

I'm hearing rumours around the net that Dragon Quest X has been announced for Wii. As a lot of you already know, Dragon Quest IX is due out on the DS, should be out some time in March from latest reports...

I'll look out for confirmation on this as soon as I can because this news is HUGE.

Ugh, thanks for reminding me , I still need to play VIII it's still shrink-wrapped on a shelf somewhere...

I've played VIII, the story's okay, and the gameplay is nothing special to RPGs, but the graphics look awesome. Haven't finished it though. Came home one day and found out my brother had been playing my account and just ran so far ahead without following the plot that I had to start again. And now, the laser in my ps2 has screwed up.

I'll need to read up more on the series because tbh I had never heard of it before IX was announced for DS. Sounds like it will be one to keep an eye on though.

You know how Square Enix used to be Squaresoft and Enix, well the Dragon Quest series is to Enix as the Final Fantasy series is to Squaresoft. However, most of Dragon Quest's popularity lies in Japan, all of the games in the main series sell over a million copies in Japan alone.

Wii needs more RPG's and obtain the DQ series would be a huge boast for the system. It will help the Wii widen the gap between the 360 and PS3 in Japan even further due to DQ overwhelming popularly in Japan. I'm just happy to see more RPG's on the Wii. Still, I do hope they keep a traditional RPG and not try to fill the game with Wii-type features, similar to what FE did.

Wii has plenty of RPGs, it's just that they're low profile ones or new IPs and most of them are Japan-only deals... specifically what Wii needs is more high profile RPGs like DQ. Also, the only RPGs Wii is seeing are ones from the Japanese... and I don'tt hink any of the US developers take Wii seriously enough to even consider releasing an RPG for it.

I think dragon quest V is about to be released on the DS sometime next year. It was apparently a ground-breaking game for its time.
