I actually don't know if there's some relation between cpu bus speed and RAM's speed and I'm lazy to look for it, but you should check if your motherboard supports newer ram modules, one of the reason why I upgraded to that Asus motherboard is because I needed something with DDR 400mhz and AGPx8 support, because my previous mother only had DDR 266mhz and AGPx4, so i wasn't using my memory and video card at its fullest.

plus I wanted to get my family outta my room whenever they needed a computer now they use my old pc.

For optimal performance you should have the RAM and FSB running at the same speeds i think Also i put 256 MB of 166 MHz RAM in my comp ages ago for a bit and i think there was a noticible speed boost XD
My motherboard is an eMachines and has AGPx4 XD

I got a couple Pink Floyd t-shirts. I can't find any pics of them but one has the Wish You Were Here album cover with some designs around it and the other says "Wish You Were Here" with something that looks like a lake behind it.

New toy:

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510. Got a nice deal on it. Pretty good specs too, better than my desktop at least.

Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 1.83GHz
2 GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 8600M GT

Came with Vista Home Premium installed. I haven't used Vista before extensively so hopefully it will work out with everything I want it to do. I don't think the IdeaPad is known very well the way the ThinkPad is but it seems like a good machine so far and most reviews I read were very good.
