Sonic and the Black Knight

Sonic Unleashed may not have been what people have hoped for, but the Sonic storybook series seems to be doing pretty well for itself.

While Sonic the Hedgehog for PS3 and 360 failed, Sonic and the Secret Rings did alright... not very good compared to every other game, but it was certainly a better game than the "main title" game... I'm betting Sonic and the Black Knight is going to be pretty much the same in that way.

Nintendo Power preview summary:

- Nunchuk to move Sonic, A to Jump and flick of the Wiimote to attack, and Z to block

- Knuckles, Shadow and Blaze(YES) are bosses in the game, they are part of a round table, once you beat them they become your friend. Looks like they are playable as well, though this is optional.

- Each environment has about 6 to 9 missions.

- Looks like there is 3 fighting styles to choose from. Cavalier style = speed. Paladin style = Strength or Knight Style = a balance of both.

- You can get new skills, like in Secret rings.

- There also seems to be a multiplayer mode (Battle and Survivor Mode)

- "There are Solo Missions designed specifically for ranked online challenges"

NGamer Preview:

Points in the preview are -
- Stage 1's enemies all seem to be knights

- Double edges sword slows Sonic's attacks down (most definetly due to the fighting style they chose)

- The camera sits behind Sonic most of the time, switching to a side-on view for certain combat and platforming sections - just like Unleashed.

- The winding track-like stages are as much racing game as platform game - just like Unleashed

- Other gameplay elements will see Sonic returning to completed acts to take part in a series of missions and earn more followers.

- Later levels are likely to introduce slightly different play styles. We've even seen one that places Sonic atop a horse-drawn carriage, giving him the opportunity to fend off an ambush from a bunch of nimble assassins

The UK Box. (Hopefully the US Box as well.)

Plays like Unleashed during day and playable Blaze and Knuckles? Sold.

it seemed to me like they were grasping for another thing, which means another failure.

It's the sequel to Sonic and the Secret Rings. I wouldn't call that game a failure, just not as good as it could've been. I think this'll end up being the same.

Lulz. I read the title of this thread as "Sonic and the Dark Knight" and was expecting some disturbing rule /34/ on Sonic and Batman.

So he can keep the gameplay mechanics that make a Sonic game great. He'll still run along really fast and jump, but now you can shake the Wiimote to make him do different kind of slashes as he's going around a million miles an hour.

I don't know about the rest of you but I've played most of the latest Sonic games. The Secret Rings was pretty good and I expect Sonic and the Dark Knight to be just as good... I mean good for a Sonic game.

lol you said Dark Knight

I can't say I'm a fan of him holding a sword, but as long as it's better than Unleashed, guess I shouldn't complain.
