What are your Favourite Type's of Game... and why?

For me one of my Fav's would have to be RTS, I dont know why but I just love the idea of commanding entire Armies.

*thinks* jeez... I can't decide, I have such a variety of games that I play that I can't really say what my favourite genre is... what I do know though is that I don't like sports games like <insert football type> <insert year> or anything like that. I also don't like MMO's mostly because you have to invest too much time in them which takes you away from other games...

RPGs and simulation games (like Sims, who doesn't love Sims). I can play almost any game, except for those crappy little games (like Hello Kitty and whatnot), but I lose interest pretty fast. And I can't stand MMOs, especially Maple Story.

I would probably say my favorite if I had to choose one is RPG, but I also like adventure, action/adventure, and several others.

Depends what sort of mood I'm in, but my favorites are probably RPG's and then shooters.

Doom and Wolfenstein 3D got me hooked right away.

Historically, 2D Action Platformers like Rocket Knight Adventures and Gunstar Heroes would be at the top.

If I had to stick with an ongoing genre that holds a standing today, I'd go with 3D Action Games followed by RPGs and Shmups (like R-Type or Gradius for example).

A few years ago I would have instantly said FPS, but Action/Adventure games have become my most favorite, platformers rock!

well i'm gonna go a little different here and say what genre i don't like, and that's anything that's sport-related (except racing type games). I personally don't favor a type over others, and if I had to make a choice, right now i would have to say puzzle, i like a challenge here and there

I'll play everything you throw at me, but probably the ones I favor least are sports and racing games.
  • I'll play RPGs when I feel like enjoying a long term relationship with my console/PC.

  • I'll play FPSs when I'm in need of some immediate and intense fun.

  • I'll play RTSs (and some turn-based strategy games) when I'm feeling either dumb - and needing something to prove me wrong - or, on the contrary, smart and ready to destroy factions and whole countries.

  • I'll play action/platform games if I wish to test my skills and be challenged.
  • Am I forgetting anything?

RPGs--I love a good story and I love the chance to make decisions that can dramatically alter the entire outcome of that story.
