Red Steel wasn't bad, per se, just horribly done. It was filed with potential, with most of it either not materializing or being executed in a poor fashion.

My biggest gripe was the fact that if you got the bad ending, you couldn't go back to your save and try to get the good ending. The game saved the closing credits on your file, forcing you to play the game all over again just to get the other ending. Talk about a tedious pain in the ass.

I would like to see them do RS2 better, but I don't have much hope. We'll just have to wait, I suppose.

They should've taken what Shigeru Miyamoto has said in the past and kept it with them throughout the development of Red Steel...

"A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever."

I have only played multiplayer and it was fun enough I guess, but never played single player which sounds horrid. Hopefully they don't mess up the sequel as bad.

I haven't actually played the multiplayer mode on Red Steel lol. But most I heard is that it's a 5 minute novelty and then people get bored of it.

If you know anyone who owns Red Steel, borrow it from them just to experience it XD

I went around Red Steel in a pretty wide arc, because I heard all the horrible press it got, and went with the rather solid idea of focusing on the first-party titles.
vs. The World.

Which reminds me... Jeff has played the Red Steel 2 demo at E3... he should come in and tell us about it

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-

I had a really long reply typed up, but was going to add more later, so I come back, submit, and it says please press back and reload.

Well I didn't play a ton of Red Steel so it's hard to compare 2 to the original, but it was almost definitely improved gameplay. Not sure it was quite there yet though. I dunno, it's hard to say, and granted I was mostly just fighting the same enemies, ninjas in armor. I assume the controls were pretty similar, swing the remote to use the sword and press b to shoot your pistol. It was kind of cool how you had to break the ninja's armor before you could damage him, and to do that you had to perform a strong vertical swipe, so it could differentiate between strong and quick attacks. I'll be more inclined to get it if it comes bundled with MotionPlus (which I think I heard it will be) as I am really against buying MotionPlus on it's own.

From the videos I saw... the shooting mechanics looked like they tried to emulate Metroid Prime 3 Corruption as much as they could. Sword slashes are now free to do at any time... in the first it was only during specific moments when you face off against an opponent who challenges you with a sword.

There's a hell of a lot of melee/brawling attacks in the game which looks pretty cool.

Oh, well see I didn't even realize you couldn't use your sword whenever you wanted in the first. In 2, it seemed that was your main weapon as it was always out and your gun was only equipped when you fired.
