PSP Go (backwards)

#1 | 1 June 2009, 9:56 AMOld

Ladies and gentlemen: On this corner, the challenger, PSP Go! With:

- Total absence of UMD drive
- 16 GB of flash memory
- 3.8 inch screen against the PSP-3000's 4.3-inch screen
- 43 percent lighter than the "incredibly heavy" PSP 3000

On this other corner, you, consumer, wondering why should you buy if there's still no right analog stick!

Let the deathmatch against your wallet begin!
Like, groovy you dig?

I like that they removed the UMD drive, screw that thing. But the analog nub is in a horrible spot and overall the thing looks like it's uncomfortable to hold. This is definitely not the PSP2 that people actually want, a.k.a. 2 analog nubs, and multi-touch screen display etc. etc. Anyway, I may or may not get this PSP Go it depends on a few things, first of all they said they will continue to support retail and downloadable games, if that's the case as long as new releases still make it to UMD/retail I see no reason to get another PSP. Another thing me getting this depends on... will it be hackable? Then there are other features that I'd look for, like internet/online/PSN capabilities. Mostly I'd be concerned with whether you will still need a WiFi access point or if you can get online "anywhere" like cell phones now.

Not that anyone in their right mind would use the analog nub anyway...

Og PSP? Oo

But yeah, the design does not look very good, in my opinion. I know you can do better Sony, your hardware is usually pretty sexy.

As for dumping of the UMD, I'm glad they're taking the leap. It will be really interesting to see what comes out of this investment, as downloadable content seems more and more like the future of media.
vs. The World.

Problem was that Sony was on a screwed position right when they released their first PSP model without the second analog stick. If they added it now, it would eventually render games that make distinct use of the other stick, unplayble on the older models, not to mention the owners would get pretty pissed at this.

Now, as they haven't added it, it's already dead before release.
