I have a new wallpaper! Well, sort of...
My monitor went out. Rather, it was going out. Basically, it would have to "warm up" before it would stay on. A bit of internet checking told me it was due to bad capacitors and it was only a matter of (a short) time before it was dead completely.
I don't really have money to spend these days, but luckily found a 24 inch widescreen on sale at Walmart that matches the height of my old monitor which was a 20". This means that my beloved 1600x1200 Jeanette wallpaper would no longer work.
AH! But I have Photoshop and I ain't afraid to use it!
If you do the math or have ever tried, you'll know that 4:3 doesn't easily tell you a nice round number to add to the sides to convert to 16:9. So, I added a bit to the bottom making the height of the image 1224 pixels. Luckily, that's covered nicely by my task bar.
But then the sides looked lonely being just black bars once I added to the sides, so I added a picture of Jeanette that was the same height as my old wallpaper to the right. A little fade effect so you could see all of her and and a bit of fade on the left to break up the hard line and I have a sort of new wallpaper!
At the moment, the black on the left makes a nice place for my icons, though I might do something with it... and actually, I just had an idea as I'm typing this.
But for the moment, Jeanette Widescreen Edition!
