If and when this stupid idea happens I look forward to that 8 year old child the media always digs up that somehow always gets around it.

And no, this site should be cast away into the depths of whatever so no sane person (if there are any left) can see it

I often ask myself whether or not these protest groups everyone sets up to try to combat Internet censorship and supporting an R18+ rating, etc, actually makes any difference. There's lots of barking but no bite...

yeah, but seriously

what YOU NEED TO DO LYNK

...is send them a letter that's states:

"I run and administrate a website that brings in international attention to it. Between full members and those whom read the blogs that have written and link them onto other sites! Further more, if I am not able to administrate my own web site of it's content as it is now and in the future due to government regulations, I feel as if my own personal rights are being violated extremely. It is my website and I will administrate it as I see fit, and I will not allow the government tell me how to do so otherwise."

or at least that's what i'd send em.... >.>

Writing a letter would make me feel something for about a minute or so, but it won't get results.

Does some old guy sitting in some cushy chair in Canberra care about my rights and how they're going to be violated? Of course not.

They'll rape my freedom like an old, fat, disgusting paedophile will rape some 8 year old, head pressed up against the ice cold wall, eyes glazed over, silent and defeated. (Disturbingly poetic eh? ...) These people don't care about our rights. What matters to them is the illusion of safety they give certain groups so that those groups vote for "the right people"...

start a petition for the next sets of elections where NONE of the people whom are in office today won't be after the next election.

Actually, funny thing about that... the current government has the gall to actually call an early election down here.

But about petitions, especially Internet petitions... ugh, since when has a single petition ever done anything for anyone?

Surely parents can use a web filter in their home if they are concerned about their kids online, this is way too far for a government to go.

The news media here would just do a feature on how young children can get around them easily and how that isn't good enough, plus it would be too much effort for the parent to put the thing on the computer.

The government actually had a free PC level web filter that people could download from a government web site which does basically what this national web filter does but is purely for those who wish to use it.

I personally thought that it was a really good idea having that option for people... but apparently it wasn't good enough for certain family groups who have that mentality where everyone should be like them... ugh x.x

10 bucks says the media is going to do a story about how young people can get around this national filter as well...

Columnist: R18+ Paper Meant to Distract from Web Censorship | GamePolitics

So here's something interesting. I haven't mentioned it here yet, but the discussion paper for the R18+ rating was released not long ago after being blocked so long by a certain Attorney General I've mentioned quite a lot in the past in previous IHTFC entries ... Anyway, some people are wondering if it was only released just so the government could distract people from the whole Internet censorship issue... which sounds about right coming from this government

Funny thing is that the reason I haven't mentioned the R18+ thing here is because I don't think it's THAT big a step forward which is why I haven't written a blog entry about it. On the other hand i think Internet censorship is a HUGE step back which is why this entry exists... I guess I'm too clever for the government

(UPDATE: Aliens vs Predator has since been re-rated to MA15+ in its complete and uncut form.)

Hooray, new AvP gets in, but L4D2 never had a chance despite the game is pretty tame compared to a lot of uncut MA15+ games... well, whatever.

If some woman were unfortunate enough to have my spawn, suffice to say I would teach my off-spring how to find free porn on the internet ASAP.
