Site Report: 2009

#1 | 1 January 2010, 12:24 AMOld
Twilight Lynk has done pretty well for itself in 2009. At the start of the year the site wasn't doing so well, but literally mid year the traffic shot up and each month the amount of traffic has gotten larger and larger. In fact, December 2009 is the month that this site has received the most traffic in its history so far.

I've shown you all a lot of the funnier keyword searches people have done, but it looks like a lot of traffic ends up coming from keywords relating to Dead Space as well as various other games mentioned on the blog. A lot of the searches are valid video game related searches which is very good but we've also got some anime related searches, mostly One Piece because of the blog post but also because of some other animes mentioned in the forum as well.

Traffic has gone up but community activity seems to be around the same in some areas and a bit slow in other areas. Hardly any new members have joined and the blog gets ignored quite a bit... XD by myself mostly lol. I guess it's just that I'll have to find new ways of making this place more compelling,,,

Another thing that's dropped off to 0 is that I'm no longer getting any revenue from the googleads which sucks... though not a big deal considering I have a job that pays quite a bit and I have a hell of a lot of money in reserve,

Another thing about the site is that it looks very outdated, using very oldskool design methods... I want it to look modern and fresh but I haven't been able to come up with any good ideas that will also fit the requirements of the site itself so a new design will probably take a long time to come together.

*thinks* What else should I mention here? *shrugs* Anyone got any questions, suggestions or whatever? XD

Maybe a revamp using a more modern style if the old school thing doesnt quite do it no more?

Well yeah, that's what I'm aiming for but it's easier said than done... I have to try to make everything work with the blog and forum as well which is really hard to achieve. I think if I do get around to redesigning the site it'll have to happen at the same time I upgrade the forum to version 4 which is a pretty huge update.

Maybe I'm a bit old-fashioned then...most web 2.0 sites look pretty messy

Nah, I'd never do that web 2.0 crap... I dunno, I just think the site needs to look a little more exciting somehow... but really the design isn't my concern at the moment, it's the community aspect I need to work on the most.

Make it more Flash-y? haha get it... like Flash.. I'm hilarious. No but whatever you do, I do like the Red/Black/Grey color scheme. Though a Roy or Ozma color scheme would be badass too...

Yeah, I'll be sticking with the current colour scheme... but as I said, the design isn't what the important part at the moment.
