Hmm well I'm not very far into the game at all, but from what I can tell nothing that we've come to know and love about the first game is missing in the sequel at least gameplay wise. The major difference so far is that due to the power limitations that come with the PSP you're no longer battling on 1 huge map per mission. The map is actually broken down into a handful of smaller maps and you "link" to each section by capturing camps to let you deploy in the other maps. It's actually very well thought out because you have to take into account that this is a portable game and the smaller maps allow you to have shorter more compact missions that are suitable for mobile gaming.

Another change is in the class system, again I'm not very far, but it does look a lot deeper. For example classes still all level up together, so you don't have to worry about spreading the exp. with all squadmates, but instead of their just being a point where you level up and your class gets upgraded, it seems there are class trees etc. Again, a quick example is that Sniper is no longer it's own class, but instead is an "elite class" of the Scout. So the five basic classes now are, Scout, Shocktrooper, Lancer, Engineer, and Technician. Technician is new and I haven't really experimented with them a lot yet.

Anyway, I'll prolly write up something a little more detailed once I get deeper into the game, but yeah if you have anymore specific questions feel free to ask.

I'm sure most of the questions you want to ask will be answered in the Game Spotlight I'll be posting up... but as for right now... there are things about this game that really frustrate me...

Nice to see some known faces around. Even nicer to see new ones.
Name's Rachel. Nice to meet ya

i have no idea what happened to my HDMI cable. So no PS3 for a few days till i get a new one. I guess i'll be playing more pc stuff these days, haha! Gotta add you guys on my psn friends list when i get it working.

BTW, damn excited bout getting Mass Effect 2 for PS3. Even though i ordered my 360 just to play those games in good quality (my pc is medium to low end).
So here i humble ask,
what nice titles should i get for my 360 that i'll get in the end of this month that just started?

Depends what you already have on PS3... I want to recommend stuff but if you already have those games on PS3 then the suggestions aren't very helpful...

Yeah, there are a lot of things that annoy me in Other M for many different reasons. It... it makes me feel...

I'll make your suggestion for you since I already know what you're going to say... Dead Space.

Anyway I'm not much help since I don't have a 360, but the only games I think I would get that are exclusively for 360 are Ace Combat 6 (b/c I'm a flight nut), and Tales of Vesperia, from the sounds of things though I'd guess that you imported the Japanese PS3 version of Vesperia. Jeff would prolly recommend Alan Wake, others would say Gears/Halo. Maybe Fable II and eventually 3 I guess, hmmm ionno, again not a 360 guy.

I feel this exact same way!!!
fusion is still my favorite game in all franchise. Looks like that will never change for a while. Other M gameplay? Awesome. Graphics? Awesome. Samus looks good? You bet. Story? Leave that to the guys who wrote Fusion, please.

Well, i don't have many ps3 titles as well. Most of my games i get from asking friends of family to get to me when they're on holidays outside Brazil.
For example, FF13 that costs around 50USD, here is 150USD. So. Yeah. It's still the same deal as when we spoke bout that yeeeeeeeears ago.

I'm looking foward to play Forza and Halo reach though. But ideas are always welcome =)

Oh, thanks a lot for all those suggestions! Alan Wake really looks great, might get that when i get the chance. I saw a little of tales of vesperia, but not enough for me to buy the JP version (and also that i'm out of contacts in japan right now, haha! Everyone returned). I've played the first Fable game for pc, it was nice.
And i might get some older pc titles to play in full quality like the tomb raider ones. Legends is my favorite =)

I'd definitely say Alan Wake, I loved it. Especially if you have either played games like that before (it's very Resident Evil 4-esque in how it plays), or enjoy horror stories, while the game is not "scary" per se, the story is very well done and it does have some creepy bits.

P.S. you should just make that tattoo permanent.

oh, thanks! i've played a bunch of thriller/horror games. resident evil series, dino crisis, koudelka, list goes on and on as far as i can remember (haha it's quite late now)

ps: i'd at least lose my job if i did that. And i'd certainly lose the boyfriend as well =p

I think Fusion is way better than Other M, but I still don't like Fusion very much because of its forced linear gameplay... actually I feel that Other M takes a lot from Fusion... the setting is practically lifted straight out of Fusion and the story (at least the conspiracy side of it) is pretty much just reiterating and reinforcing what was already told in Fusion, though making it sound more like the Galactic Federation itself isn't becoming the bad guy, rather a rogue element of it is behind all of the bad stuff.

As for the gameplay and visuals?.... I'm not as impressed as you seem to be... you'll read in more detail when I get this damn entry posted up.

Plus... the folks who wrote Other M ARE the folks who wrote Fusion... sorry, but you had to be told at some point... it's also kind of sad that they could only come up with something that basically takes much of its inspiration from Fusion instead of coming up with something better...

They're the SAME team of writers??
then what the hell did they drink when doing their jobs?

Heck.

I'm not ooooooooh impressed. But it's nice. I mean, i didn't regret spending money on it, so it's a plus.

And they've taken lots of elements from fusion. Even enemy designs.
You're right bout the linear gameplay they've got in the gba game. But my favorite aspect of Fusion is that samus has the personality and attitude i've always imagine she'd have. What did not happen in Other M.

Yeah, the personality and attitude Samus has in Fusion is the same way I imagined Samus to be as well (I would argue though that a lot of that came from the opening monologue in Super Metroid)... this is also further reinforced by her actions in other games such as Zero Mission and the entire Metroid Prime trilogy. In fact, there are moments in the Metroid Prime trilogy that I think are just perfectly Samus.

Other M Samus isn't the Samus I know and love from previous games... but worse still... it's the Samus we're stuck with from now on it seems...
