Welcome to the second Caption Corner on Twilight Lynk.

This next scene comes from Valkyria Chronicles on the PlayStation 3. From left to right we have Rosie, Welkin, Alicia and Isara. This one’s gonna be tough for some of you but that’s why I chose it… I’m sure some of you can figure out what to do with such an accusatory look coming from Rosie.

Time for another Animation Spotlight, and like the previous one, I’ll be focusing on another animation that’s related to a game.

Valkyria Chronicles, or Senjou no Valkyria (Battlefield Valkyria) if you prefer, is one of my favourite new game series of this generation and has already spawned sequel games as well as two manga and an anime TV series of the same name. I absolutely loved the first game and was naturally excited when they announced the anime quite awhile back… though, to be honest when I started watching the anime when it was initially being released, I kind of gave up on it and stopped just before the half way mark.

But, I did give the Valkyria Chronicles anime another chance and have finally watched the entire series…

In my continuing effort to post more articles per month, here is my 6th article… not including that one I posted on SMS before… oh and don’t worry, I’ll give SMS a proper announcement on the anniversary post which will most likely be the next entry.

It was quite awhile ago now, but when the first concept art for “Epic Mickey” was revealed, a lot of people got VERY excited. And how could they not? It wasn’t like anything you would associate with Mickey Mouse… at least not the Mickey we know these days. It was dark, foreboding and very well presented. There were those who believed this art style would go far… until they saw the screenshots which weren’t quite as amazing as the concept art…

Of course, we can’t really talk more about a game that hasn’t even come out yet, so onto the games that have already been released…

I see what you did there…

As you can probably tell, I chose to use this image because it contained great quantities of side-boob action from none other than Selvaria. I hope you appreciate the thought that went into selecting the image to use for this blog entry.

I wrote a review of Valkyria Chronicles quite some time back and while it is one hell of a great game, it’s unfortunate that not many people are buying it and discovering how great it is for themselves… well at least until recently when we started getting reports that Valkyria Chronicles got a sudden sales boost. A lot of why I think the game is getting a boost in sales is because of the newly released Valkyria Chronicles anime in Japan, however it may also have to do with the download content popping up on the PlayStation Network spurring people to find out exactly what this game is all about.

I’m Edy Nelson, perhaps you’ve heard of me?

In 1935EC, the continent of Europa is thrown into its second continental war this century. The Atlantic Alliance and Eastern Empire wage a costly war for control of a rare ore called Ragnite, a fuel source which has grown in demand ever since the recent industrial revolution.

In the middle of this great war is Gallia, a small nation that has remained neutral in all wars between the Alliance and Empire. Valkyria Chronicles tells of the story of a small group of people from Militia group Squad 7 and their pivotal role in the Second Europan War as the Empire invades Gallia in order to secure its rich supply of Ragnite.

Squad 7, move out!

I know a blog post titled “PS3 has no games” is obviously going to make some people rage at suggesting so and others nod in agreement… and to be fair, I did put it up there to get people to turn their heads in this direction. However, I’m not here to bash the PS3, rather to highlight what great games it does have which people are either genuinely unaware of or are trying to ignore for the sake of saying… “PS3 has no games.”

The difference with this article from the few others I have written in the past is that it won’t try to give you all the answers, rather it is intended to get a discussion started so that you can share from your own experience, what PS3 games we should be aware of.

Before I begin though, I’d like people to focus more on PS3 exclusives rather than the multi-platform titles… to be perfectly honest, I feel that most of the current multi-platform games perform better on the Xbox 360 than they do on the PS3.

Does it really? You tell me…
